MythOrReality

Myth or Reality?

The word “gifted” itself is just the tip of the iceberg in the list of myths that need to be identified and corrected to truly understand what it means to be gifted and what it doesn’t. There are two definitions of myth. A common definition refers to a traditional story passed down from one generation to the next that explains some phenomenon that many times involves a supernatural being. It is the second definition, a widely held misconception, that is the focus of Myth or Reality?

It is important that parents and teachers have something that they can immediately use when working with gifted learners. This book and accompanying Myth or Reality? card deck can be used to recognize the difference between myths and realities and have the words to explain the real truth.
